Validation of EV BMS Functional Safety

Project Scope


  • 546 TSRs and ~20,000 test cases to be executed and validated for 13 safety functionalities (ISO26262)

  • Automation test scripts to be created for all test cases and to be run at customer location

  • Execution of test scripts/cases on ETAS lab car with simulated vehicle


Business Challenges


  • Dependences from vendors on software variables, thresholds, calibration data and signal mapping information

  • BMS basic knowledge was there but having functional safety ISO26262 was new

  • Performing ~20k test cases manually is time taking and there are lot of misses possible

  • Test cases written in English in excel reformatted to be able to understand and configurable by automation tool framework internally developed

  • No manual creation of test scripts and execution is necessary with the automation framework created

  • Reports generated for all test cases with mapping of TSRs and requirements to validate complete coverage
