Project Scope


  • Design, develop, manufacture, and supply a dedicated machine for pressing cam gears onto camshafts

  • Enhance production efficiency and operator safety in the assembly process


Business Challenges


  • The existing manual assembly process was slow and labour-intensive

  • Safety concerns existed due to the use of dollies and mallets for pressing

  • Automated Pressing: Incorporated a pneumatic cylinder with two-hand push-button control for safe and efficient pressing operation Implemented a lever-operated valve for automatic cylinder retraction

  • Ergonomic Design: Developed a dedicated fixture for secure component positioning. Incorporated tackles for safe and efficient component handling

  • Safety Enhancements: Implemented a safety door interlock system and a clear digital display for operating pressure monitoring

  • Quality Control: Designed the machine to ensure consistent and accurate pressing force, minimizing the risk of component damage or misalignment
