Project Scope

A crawler robot that can inspect steel structures by moving on any surface. 



  • Flexible joints to navigate corners and uneven structures 



  • Magnetic Wheels: To stick to ferrous surfaces 


Business Challenges

Implementing differential drive control with safety interlocks, based on kinematic models for precise linear and angular velocity control, was a real engineering challenge. 


ARi’s Solutions


  • Developed a robust MSMR chassis with permanent magnetic wheels for adhesion on ferrous surfaces 



  • Integrate LIDAR, cameras, and NDT sensors for real-time monitoring and supporting inspection tasks 



  • Validated performance through testing on simulated ferrous surfaces (flat, vertical, and ceiling), measuring KPIs like adhesion force and speed 



  • Deliver a basic base station GUI for tele-operation and monitoring, with wired connectivity for reliability in hazardous areas
